THE PALACE OF VERSAILLES
The Palace of Versailles was first the hunting lodge of Louis XIII; Louis XIV then transformed and expanded it. He moved the court and government of France to Versailles in 1682 and created the palace we know today, a symbol of royal power, an embodiment of French classical art, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

GIVERNY
Claude Monet, the pioneer of Impressionist painting, settled with his family in 1883 in Giverny, a village 75 kilometres from Paris. There he spent the second half of his life creating the unique garden that inspired his paintings.
The artist spent three decades composing hundreds of paintings inspired by the water lilies and other wonders of his Japanese garden. Today, the house and gardens continue to be maintained just as they were a century ago.
LES CHÂTEAUX DE LA LOIRE
The Loire Valley is only two hours from Paris by car. Since 2000, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Châteaux of the Loire Valley were constructed during the Renaissance, when the Kings of France and the nobility wanted to extend the life of the Court outside Paris.
